28mm Nikkor f/3.5 AI
The 28mm Nikkor f/3.5 AI dates from a period when all Nikon lenses were built to the most exacting standards. Nevertheless, the 28mm Nikkor f/3.5 AI was the least expensive wide angle on account of its f/3.5 speed. Here I used it at maximum aperture on a Nikon D2Xs set to ISO 100, where that camera excels.
Bjørn Rørslett rates the 28mm f/3.5 Nikkor very highly, particularly when used on a crop sensor SLR. He observes that this lens has great ability when used shooting directly into the sun.
I bought mine for £25 on eBay in 2014. The seller was honest about the sad cosmetic state, and owned up to minor scratches on the glass. Mechanically it functions perfectly, making it a joy to use. Despite the blemishes, it has provided some decent images.
